Welcome

Let me introduce Northport Baptist Church to you, a spiritual family that seeks to make the love of Christ visible to all people. Northport Baptist Church is a very ministry minded church. We have ministries going on seven days a week with one purpose of making the love of Christ a reality to every age and life situation. Ministry is at the heart of all we do. We believe every member should be a minister. Jesus said "It is more blessed to give than receive", and based upon that we believe that the place of greatest joy and blessings is a place of service.

I can sum up what makes NBC great with three great elements. The first is our obedience to the Great Commandment; Matthew 22:37-40.

Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: "Love your neighbor as yourself." All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

The second element is our Lord’s Great Commission: Matthew 28:19-20.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Great Communion with Christ is the last element: John 15:5.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit.

We draw four things out of these three verses: to love God with all your heart is Worship. To love your neighbor as your self is Ministry, to go ... and make disciples is Evangelism, and to remain in Him is Discipleship. We believe a Great Commitment to the Great Commandment, the great commission, and the great communion will grow a great church!
